I love lamp! Well LAMP to be more precise. For the less technical readers, LAMP is an achronym for:
It’s all open source (read: free software) and makes web hosting an absolute breeze. Well, you need to know your way around Linux, but with LAMP, I managed to port this blog to a brand new server in under 45 minutes.
Yes, I know I’m a geek for posting this, but I just had to share this with you.
Having worked as an IT professional for 10 or so years (and a bit of a computer nerd since I was about 6), I can only speculate at the amount of time I’ve spent hunting the www for fixes for this or that, new software to replace antiquated systems or that provide better functionality. But it’s not often that I get really excited over something anymore. That happened today…
Why is it the public sector continue to insult our intelligence in this day and age? I was under the (clearly misguided) impression that as a whole, the human race were supposed to be getting smarter? Someone obviously forgot to inform Transport for London.
